A warm welcome to you.
I am a daughter, sister, wife, mother, friend, colleague and counsellor. These are some of my roles as a person. Becoming an adult comes with more responsibility and life can feel overwhelming at times.
Through my counselling training I discovered a much deeper understanding of myself and my life experiences which became challenging at times to face. I decided to go into therapy to work through the difficulties I was experiencing and it was the beginning of my self care journey.
I can really empathise with how challenging it can feel sharing personal details and learning things about yourself, you feel uncomfortable disclosing.
However through many hours of therapy I was able to understand and release many old ways of being I didn't like and felt free to discover who I wanted to be. My path now is to focus on compassion, kindness and self care towards myself and to others who cross my path or journey along side me.
I have always felt passionately about working with children and families and my career began as a NNEB Nursery Nurse. I have worked in school settings; at the mother and baby mental health unit at Lincoln County Hospital and in family homes.
After starting my own family, I continued to support families in the community as my three children grew up. I enjoyed childminding as well as running local toddler groups including the National Childbirth Trust. I have also trained and volunteered with Homestart supporting families in their homes with challenging life experiences.
Throughout my children’s schooling I was an active committee member within their preschools and primary schools.
After some personal, life changing events whilst staying at home as a full-time Mother, I decided to retrain in the counselling field.
Since then, I have provided counselling to adults at the Lincoln YMCA, Lincolnshire Counselling and other organisations such as for LCC employees. I continue to work in private practice at Welton Counselling Practice as well at Affordable Therapy Concepts in South Park.
I have also been involved in working with children and young people at CASY (Counselling and Support for Young People). I’ve ran nurture groups and counselled within schools and in private practice in Lincolnshire.
